3 Idiots

I was a little disappointed with this movie. I had two major expectations - Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir Khan. Well, both of them did what was expected of them, but somehow it didn't click for me.

I found '3 Idiots' a tad bit cheesy at many places. Like when Aamir has to deliver a baby... Ummm... Not happening!!

Having said that, there were very nice, touching moments as well. Like when he tries to re-do a friend's assignment so that the friend can graduate, only to find him hanging dead just when he has finished it. Or, getting his friend to recover from a paralysis (a'la Munnabhai MBBS). However, this also was laced with a faint but a distinct cheesiness!!

Sharman Joshi is good. Madhavan is too old. Kareena Kapoor is very forgettable! But Boman Irani is not.

S and I ended up comparing the film to Tamil cinema and so ended up agreeing that Bollywood is way way advanced and sensible. But I feel this movie is slightly mediocre compared to its counterparts.

Happy New Year!

Another year has passed... somehow every New Years Eve gets more odd than the previous one! My memory of early childhood and pre-teen eves were much more fun - which is weird because all we did was play, dance and eat with parents - you'd think the fun would be with friends and alcohol!!

The last New Years Eve party I went to was 3 years ago... wow!! I can't believe it! The year before last, we had a small do (and I mean REALLY small) at the inlaws place. Last year, we had an even smaller do at our place (I was pregnant, couldn't drink, extremely frustrated and asleep at 12.30!). This year we couldn't do much coz of T. So we spent the night at my mum's with a small group (bigger than last year, smaller than the year before).

Actually, on second thoughts, this time was more relaxed, fun and meaningful than any I can remember. I missed my brother, my new sis-in-law and my parents-in-law. But the highlight was when T opened her eyes at the stroke of midnight. I felt complete holding her on one side and S on the other.

Here's to a meaningful, healthy and special New Year!
